Eureka to Smith River

September 4-5

Spent Sunday and Monday night at the Salmon Harbor Resort where the Smith River empties into the Pacific Ocean. This is an old, run down RV park where I may be the youngest resident and I'm certain to be the only person without a dog!! The first night cost me $19 and the second cost $26. Many people live here full time or stay for a month or more at a time. I met a couple who have the same brand of RV that I have except it is a couple of feet shorter. They have lived in it full time for the past 8 years. Winters are spent in Arizona and summers are spent in California, Oregon, or Washington.

A tacky RV park with decent Wifi!

The confluence of the Smith river and the Pacific. Named after my favorite 19th century American explorer.
Today I drove back to Crescent City and drove around the town a bit. I enjoyed looking at a couple of lighthouses and some great rock formations in the ocean. There was a fierce wind blowing all afternoon but fortunately it dies down in the evening. This lady was meditating and seemed very happy to have me take her photo. :)

Since I'm on a bluff within 150 feet of the ocean, I've been able to enjoy two wonderful sunsets but I was not able to photograph them.
